Sandy Pentland x Social Scientist

Forbes recently named Alex ‘Sandy’ Pentland as one of the ’7 most powerful data scientists in the world’, whatever that means, and profiles of Sandy have appeared in publications such as the New York Times, Vogue, and Harvard Business Review, as well as TV shows such as Nova and Scientific American Frontiers.   Among his more interesting experiences are dining with British Royalty and the President of India, staging fashion shows in Paris, Tokyo, and New York, and developing a method for counting beavers from space. He directs MIT’s Human Dynamics Laboratory and the MIT Media Lab Entrepreneurship Program, and advises the World Economic Forum, Nissan Motor Corporation, and a variety of startups.
