From the Top

For the past decade, From the Top has been the preeminent showcase for America’s best young musicians. Through award-winning NPR and PBS programs, online media, a national tour of live events, and education programs, From the Top shares the stories and performances of pre-collegiate musicians with millions each week. Each program provides a compelling and entertaining window into the world of a diverse group of young people, who pursue life with passion, determination, and joy.

Rainer Crosett, 18, (cello) attends Phillips Academy, where he is co-principal cellist of the Academy Symphony Orchestra. He studies cello at New England Conservatory Preparatory School and plays in the Youth PhilharmonicOrchestra. Rainer has won numerous awards including the 2010 Concord Orchestra Young Artist Competition and the Quincy Symphony Orchestra “Young Artist Performs” Competition. Rainer appeared on NPR’s From the Top as a soloist in 2008 and volunteers with From the Top’s Margaret Stewart Lindsay Arts Leadership program. This summer he will attend the Aspen Music Festival and School. He will attend Harvard University in the fall.

Julia Glenn, 20, (violin) is a Boston native with extensive performing experience and an array of competition prizes. Recent appearances include an appearance on the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Masterclass series, an appearance on NPR’s From the Top, and a solo appearance at Beijing University in China. Julia is an undergraduate student at Harvard University, where she majors in linguistics and Mandarin Chinese. She is a student of James Buswell at New England Conservatory.
