Don Katz is an Associate Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience at Brandeis University, studying how context and experience affects taste preferences and neural coding.
A saxophonist, singer, and actor in college, he majored in “Cognitive and Linguistic Sciences.” After working two years in a Veteran’s hospital after graduation, his interest in helping people with emotional and neural disorders led him to a PhD in clinical psychology at Indiana University. He’s been studying brain function ever since—first at IU, then at Duke University Medical Center – where he discovered his fascination for the sense of taste – and finally at Brandeis University.
He is a firm advocate for taking one’s time and following one’s passions.
